Amazon’s Prime Video gets exclusive rights to NFL ‘Black Friday’ game in 2023
Amazon will have rights to stream NFL games in 2020 and beyond as the streaming giant locks in with the NFL for exclusive streaming rights to its NFL Prime Video feed in more than 150 countries and territories, including key markets like the U.S.
“We are excited to be working with Amazon to leverage the unique capabilities of the Prime Video platform to offer a high-quality viewing experience to NFL fans across the world,” said NFL head of digital Jeremy Pimpin. “This will be a very exciting extension of our relationship with Amazon and will help us to continue to extend the reach of our global television schedule to soccer fans around the world and to our fans on the go.
“Through the Prime Video platform, Amazon has the capacity to bring an unprecedented, global NFL viewing audience and is committed to delivering a consistently premium NFL viewing experience.”
Amazon’s move comes as the NFL tries to make Prime Video a key component of the $1 billion ‘Prime Video for Fan Service’ package that’s part of the league’s overall $20 billion initiative to grow the NFL globally. That package will make available NFL content to more than 40 million more Prime members around the world and provide Amazon with an additional source of revenue that Amazon hasn’t been able to provide in the past: NFL games.
Amazon’s NFL streaming agreement comes just weeks after Amazon’s deal to stream English Premier League soccer for Prime Video customers was announced. As part of that announcement Prime customers in England now have access to the latest Premier League matches and highlights in what the NFL dubbed the “best of football, best of sports, and best of Prime Video at only $8.”
Prime Video already has deals in place with major sports leagues around the world like Premier League and English Premier League.
Prime Video customers can watch Amazon Instant Video or Prime Video on demand through Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV, Fire TV Sticks, Fire TV HD, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Player, Fire Phone, Alexa, and the Amazon
